Cooper MtnWednesday was threatening to rain but it cleared up to be a perfect evening for our most recent rooftop wine tasting.

Two wineries teamed up to host the event, Montinore Estate and Cooper Mountain Vineyard. And they did not dissapoint. They each poured three wines, making a total of six wines for Indigo residents to sample as they enjoyed the beautiful evening and each other’s company.

Montinore Estate brought:

  • 2007 Estate Reserve Pinot Gris
  • 2007 Gewurztraminer
  • 2008 Estate Reserve Pinot Noir

Cooper Mountain poured:

  • 2008 Pinot Gris
  • 2008 Pinot Noir
  • 2009 Tocai Friulano

Montinore’s Gewurzstraminer was surpisingly dry and just a touch sweet, a fact that I greatly appreciated. Typically, I don’t care for Gewurzstraminer, but this one lacked the overwhelmingly sweet quality that I have come to associate with Gewurztraminer. I recommend trying it for a pleasant surprise.

My favorite from selection was Cooper Mountain’s 2009 Tocai Friulano. It was a fruity, tangy wine with a taste of crisp Pink Lady Apples. Try this wine on a picnic or a warm summer evening.

Order forms can be found at the concierge desk until next Friday, September 17th so be sure to get those orders placed.

Of course, I owe a special thank you to our neighboring restaurant, Pinot American Brasserie. At the last minute, and much to my appreciation, they stepped in to provide a delicious platter to compliment the wines perfectly. Residents should be sure to ask the concierge for the latest exclusive deals offered by Pinot.

Yamhill Valley 005Last Thursday, Indigo @ Twelve|West was happy to welcome back Yamhill Valley Vineyards back for a second wine tasting. Some of our first residents were lucky enough to enjoy a smaller event with Yamhill back in January. While the first event was also a success, it was exciting to see such a great turnout for Yamhill’s second visit.

Featured wines included Yamhill’s 2007 Pinot Blanc Reserve, 2007 Pinot Gris, and their 2008 Pinot Noir Reserve.  The Pinot Gris and the Pinot Blanc seemed to be the most popular standouts and a few who were familiar with Yamhill’s wines inquired about their famous “Tall Poppy,” an impressive 2005 Pinot Noir.

As usual, our lovable executive chef, Mark Henry, carefully paired a delectable menu to match the wine selection. The watermelon, feta cheese salad was a unique, summery dish, as was the bay shrimp coctail ceviche. We owe a huge thanks to Mark for putting so much time and effort into his community. His complimentary dishes really bring out the subtle flavors in the wines.

Yamhill Valley 011

Though it started slow, due to competition from First Thursday events,  the tasting proved quite successful by the end and we are quickly learning that The Sapphire Room never disappoints.

If you are interested in ordering wine, Yamhill has generously offered a discount, good through the month of August. Order forms can be found at the concierge desk. It’s a great opportunity to stock up with some of the region’s best.

Thanks again to Yamhill Valley Vineyards, Chef Mark Henry, and our residents for another great evening. Stay tuned to hear what’s in store for next month.

I can only imagine that this is what the roof was designed for.

I can only imagine that this is what the roof was designed for.

In our continuing series of monthly wine tastings, Anne Amie Vineyards  spent Wednesday evening pouring wine for residents on our rooftop, and they certainly didn’t disappoint.

Featured wines included: 2009 Cuvee A Amrita, 2008 Pinot Blanc, 2008 Cuvee A Pinot Noir, 2007 Willamette Valley Pinot Noir, and a decadent 2007 Prisme Pinot Noir Blanc.

Yes, you heard correct, a WHITE Pinot Noir! No doubt about it, the Prisme was the talk of the party. Sipping it produced a unique synesthetic experience. And if you somehow weren’t impressed by the tasting qualities, at the very least, you had to marvel at the thought of how time consuming and labor intensive it must be to produce a Pinot Noir that is completely and painstakingly devoid of skins.

Lucky for us, Chef Mark Henry stepped in once again to put together a terrific menu that perfectly complimented the wines. We are so grateful to have his support. Without a doubt, we could not throw such a successful classy event without his incredible contributions. Thanks Chef.

As if Indigo residents weren’t spoiled enough, Anne Amie has offered discounted pricing on any orders turned into the concierge before July 21st so don’t miss this opportunity to get some quality wine at a great price.

The spread was irresitable

The spread was irresitable

Wednesday our Sapphire Room was treated to a tasting of some of the best wines in the Pacific Northwest. Ponzi Vineyards and Hamacher Wines teamed up to delight our residents with their famous wines.

Ponzi offered up their 2009 Pinot Gris, 2009 Pinot Rosato, and 2008 Tavola Pinot Noir. The warmest reviews came for the Pinot Noir which winemaker, Luisa Ponzi described as showing “vanilla, spice and red fruit leading to a mouth of warm spice notes and blueberry.”

Hamacher impressed us with his 2007 Chardonnay and his 2008 ‘H’ Pinot Noir. My personal favorite was the chardonnay which exhibits flavors of “mineral-laden creme brulee and apples on the palate,” while “Pear, citrus and anise dominate the aromatics.

These incredible wines are now available at incredible discounts. Orders placed before June 18th will be discounted 10%. There is no minimum order and the wine is delivered right to Indigo @ TwelveWest. Don’t miss this opportunity to get some of the regions best wine at a convenient discount.

I’d like to thank our participating wineries for generously hosting our event and once again, we owe a huge thank you to our volunteer chef, Mark Henry, for selecting and preparing a spectacular menu of hors d’oeuvres that paired so well with our wines. Lucky for us, his skills in the kitchen can match those of our esteemed vintners.
