I can only imagine that this is what the roof was designed for.

I can only imagine that this is what the roof was designed for.

In our continuing series of monthly wine tastings, Anne Amie Vineyards  spent Wednesday evening pouring wine for residents on our rooftop, and they certainly didn’t disappoint.

Featured wines included: 2009 Cuvee A Amrita, 2008 Pinot Blanc, 2008 Cuvee A Pinot Noir, 2007 Willamette Valley Pinot Noir, and a decadent 2007 Prisme Pinot Noir Blanc.

Yes, you heard correct, a WHITE Pinot Noir! No doubt about it, the Prisme was the talk of the party. Sipping it produced a unique synesthetic experience. And if you somehow weren’t impressed by the tasting qualities, at the very least, you had to marvel at the thought of how time consuming and labor intensive it must be to produce a Pinot Noir that is completely and painstakingly devoid of skins.

Lucky for us, Chef Mark Henry stepped in once again to put together a terrific menu that perfectly complimented the wines. We are so grateful to have his support. Without a doubt, we could not throw such a successful classy event without his incredible contributions. Thanks Chef.

As if Indigo residents weren’t spoiled enough, Anne Amie has offered discounted pricing on any orders turned into the concierge before July 21st so don’t miss this opportunity to get some quality wine at a great price.

East_Burn

How’s about dining out on swings? Sounds interesting, right? East Burn- a good place to kick back with friends and sway while you eat. There is both indoor and outdoor seating options; many of these include swings that hang table-side. The outdoor patio also includes tables with fire-pits as your centerpiece (please note: the outdoor patio allows smoking).

Last week I managed to fit in a feast while dining at East Burn and it was worth it.  Let me just say-Elk Meatloaf Sandwich- served on pugliese with slow roasted tomatoes and baby arugula dressed with champagne vinaigrette (Oh yum). I will be back for the meatloaf sandwich before you know it.

The good food didn’t stop there, I also indulged in a side of clam chowder that was equally brilliant. You see- I am a huge fan of clam chowder and all types of Seafood. This was due to my adolescence when I grew up digging clams clams in Sitka, Alaska during the summer. My grandfather and I would go out in the early morning when the low-tides hit and scoop up large clams right beneath the surface. When our buckets were filled to the brim, we would haul the clams indoors and helped grandma get to cooking. By afternoon and high-tide, we had a huge batch of fresh clam chowder that would melt in your mouth. Some fun facts to throw out there while offering a good piece of where to eat when you want to sway!

DavE

Make every meal killer with Dave’s Killer Bread! You heard it right- the right on way to making each meal organic, healthy, and surely-killer. Dave’s bread is the toast to your butter and jam, the brilliant to burgers, and the mouth-watering savvy to sandwiches! Yum…yum…yum. Try it out and you won’t go back! The days of processed white bread are out of date. In fact, the days of bread without any nutritional value should be wiped off the shelf. Make a good choice and be “the good seed” in your daily diet choices. Those days of criminal eating should be a place of the past.  -From your loving fan-Amy.

The spread was irresitable

The spread was irresitable

Wednesday our Sapphire Room was treated to a tasting of some of the best wines in the Pacific Northwest. Ponzi Vineyards and Hamacher Wines teamed up to delight our residents with their famous wines.

Ponzi offered up their 2009 Pinot Gris, 2009 Pinot Rosato, and 2008 Tavola Pinot Noir. The warmest reviews came for the Pinot Noir which winemaker, Luisa Ponzi described as showing “vanilla, spice and red fruit leading to a mouth of warm spice notes and blueberry.”

Hamacher impressed us with his 2007 Chardonnay and his 2008 ‘H’ Pinot Noir. My personal favorite was the chardonnay which exhibits flavors of “mineral-laden creme brulee and apples on the palate,” while “Pear, citrus and anise dominate the aromatics.

These incredible wines are now available at incredible discounts. Orders placed before June 18th will be discounted 10%. There is no minimum order and the wine is delivered right to Indigo @ TwelveWest. Don’t miss this opportunity to get some of the regions best wine at a convenient discount.

I’d like to thank our participating wineries for generously hosting our event and once again, we owe a huge thank you to our volunteer chef, Mark Henry, for selecting and preparing a spectacular menu of hors d’oeuvres that paired so well with our wines. Lucky for us, his skills in the kitchen can match those of our esteemed vintners.

McMenamins is a well-known classic among Portlanders. With locations all throughout the Portland Metro Area, most anyone can appreciate their artistic pubs with hand-crafted beer. One special feature of McMenamins includes their Theatre Pubs where great flicks, handcrafted brews, and simple eats come together. Mission Theatre is conveniently located in downtown NW Portland. This theatre is one of my favorites; featuring both ground floor and balcony seating for an enjoyable evening. Every Wednesday night is Mission Theatre’s Classic Burger, Beer & Movie for $10.50. In addition, Mission Theatre occasionally hosts NW Film Festival events, live music, and select football games. St John’s Pub located in North Portland is also a well-known spot, hosting theatre-goers with comfy couches and plush theatre seating. I do not want to forget one of the oldest theatre pubs and classics; the Baghdad theatre located in Portland’s SE Hawthorne district.

For show times and locations please call McMenamin’s Theatre line at (503) 249-7474 or visit McMenamin’s Website.
